The Alpenbrevet Extended (also referred to below as the “event”) will be staged by Cycling Unlimited AG, Rotbuchstrasse 46, CH-8037 Zurich (referred to below as the “Organiser”).

  1. Scope of application
Conditions of participation: These conditions of participation govern the legal relationship that comes into being between a participant and the Organiser.
The contract shall be formed when the Organiser sends the interested person an e-mail with a confirmation of registration for entry in the event.
  2. Eligibility: Persons from the age of 18 years are eligible to participate
Neither a licence, nor membership of the association is necessary to enter the Alpenbrevet Extended. Participants under the age of 18 years are not entitled to any competition prizes or rewards.
  3. The mandatory provisions applicable to participation in the Alpenbrevet Extended must be observed.
Participants are obliged to comply with the mandatory provisions applicable. This in particular applies to measures regarding safety and the protection of participants’ health.
  4. Participation in the event is at the participant’s personal responsibility and own risk.
The Organiser and its partners accept no liability whatsoever in the event of theft, accidents or illness. All participants are responsible for ensuring that they are properly trained and physically fit to enter the event and for checking external conditions such as the weather and the state of the course. Participation is at their own risk. If necessary, participating persons should (in case of doubt) ask a medical specialist to examine and confirm they meet the requirements in terms of health. The participating person likewise confirms that they are aware of the option of dropping out of the event at any time.
  5. Each individual participant is responsible for taking out insurance against accidents, illness or theft and their own liability insurance.
By registering participants release the Organiser and its partners, their auxiliary agents and land and route owners along the course and event site from all liability claims and confirm that they hold adequate insurance against illness, accident and personal liability.
  6. Responsibility for the condition of participants’ own equipment.
The participating person hereby confirms that (i) their bicycle meets the statutory requirements applicable in Switzerland for riding on public roads and (ii) they will wear a helmet at all times while cycling (we recommend minimum requirement EN 1078).
  7. The Swiss Road Traffic Act shall apply at all times.
The participating person hereby acknowledges and confirms that the Alpenbrevet Extended takes place on public roads which have not been cordoned off. Rules such as the prohibition on crossing guide lines and safety-related road markings, stopping where indicated by signs to this effect or giving way to entitled road users must be followed.
  8. The prize winners of the competition will be determined after the end of the Alpenbrevet Extended in October.
Prizes will be drawn among all participants of the Alpenbrevet Extended who have crossed at least three (3) of seven (7) passes by October 2024. These persons will be informed by e-mail of their win by the end of November 2024 and asked to contact the Organiser by e-mail. The winners must get in touch with the Organiser by e-mail within 96 hours after being contacted by same; otherwise the prize will be awarded to another participant and the winner’s claim will lapse. It is the responsibility of winners to ensure that they are able to receive the Organiser’s e-mail in the proper manner (particularly in relation to their setting for spam/junk mail, etc.). Conversion to cash payment is not possible. Winners are responsible for the payment of any taxes incurred. The Organiser’s decision is final.
  9. Participants must play an active role in claiming the various finisher prizes / rewards and fill in the form after concluding the Challenge (completion of all seven (7) passes) and request their Alpenbrevet Legend start number.
The Organiser and its partners accept no liability for any defects in non-monetary prizes. There is no entitlement to an alternative cash payment for non-monetary prizes, or to their substitution, change, or transfer to any other person. The Organiser or its partners are entitled at any time to offer replacements for prizes of equal value. Should the methods of contact provided be defective (e.g. invalid e-mail address), the Organiser and its partners shall not be obliged to identify correct addresses. Any disadvantages ensuing from the provision of defective contact data shall be borne by the participating person. Each person shall only be entitled to a single finisher prize.
  10. Data collection and utilisation
The Organiser will collect relevant personal data for the purposes of proper staging of the events. Handling of this data is laid down in the Organiser’s Privacy Policy governing the event.
  11. Cancellation of the Alpenbrevet Extended
Should the Alpenbrevet Extended fail to take place for reasons for which the Organiser and its partners are not responsible, and thus contractual services cannot be rendered or not rendered according to the terms of contract, no obligation exists on the part of the Organiser or its partners to compensate participants in this regard. This shall also apply where the Alpenbrevet Extended is discontinued for reasons for which the organisers and their partners are not responsible.
  12. Offers from partners of the event, in particular Andermatt Swiss Alps, Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, The Chedi Andermatt and Alpine Apartments Andermatt (commercial third parties)
    a. The performance of offers by the Organiser’s partners is solely incumbent on the partners. The Organiser acts merely as an intermediary between the customer and partners and excludes any liability. The services of the Organiser shall be limited to the compilation of offers, their description and the communication of such offers.
    b. Any contract regarding the reservation and performance of the relevant partner’s offer shall come into being directly between the customer and the relevant partner. Rendering of the reserved service as such shall not constitute any obligation of performance on the part of the Organiser. The Organiser is merely an intermediary.
  13. Exclusion from the event
The Organiser reserves the right to exclude from the event participants who fail to conduct themselves in a responsible manner or who act in contravention of the Organiser’s instructions at any time. Possible grounds for exclusion may include (non-exhaustive list): inadequate equipment, consumption of alcohol, drug use, doping, injury, environmental pollution or endangerment of themselves or third parties.
  14. Unclear wording
If any provision of this agreement is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable for any reason, this provision shall be deemed severable from the remainder of this agreement and shall have no effect on the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions of this agreement.
  15. The Organiser reserves the right to amend, supplement or revoke the conditions of participation either wholly or in part.
Participating persons shall be bound by any change or supplementation of the published conditions of participation or any other rules.
  16. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
This agreement shall be governed by Swiss law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Zurich (Switzerland).
